We love welcoming beginner clay shooters here at Bath Shooting Ground, and sharing this fantastic hobby with new starters brings us a lot of joy.

If you’re thinking of booking a first-time clay pigeon shooting lesson, you may have some questions about what to expect, and how to get started.

Here are our top tips to help make the most of your first clay pigeon shooting experience at Bath Shooting Ground:

Book a clay shooting lesson

Firstly, book a session with a qualified shooting instructor – not only will this mean that you get expert tuition to get you started on the right track, but it also means that you’ll be provided with all of your equipment, and you’ll be learning in a safe environment.

Wear the right clothing

We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing that’s appropriate for the weather conditions and allows you to move freely, as well as sturdy footwear suitable for muddy ground.

Choosing the right equipment

Your instructor will choose the best gun for your build, and will show you how to safely hold and use the gun.

Observe other shooters

Watching others shoot can be really helpful – this will help you to get to know how the clays move through the air, so that you’ll begin to be able to predict how they’ll travel, making your aim more accurate.
